The Eskenazi Health VolunTEEN program provides Central Indiana/Marion County teens with the opportunity to explore careers in health care. Along with volunteer work and shadowing/observations in a clinical setting, VolunTEENs will discuss educational requirements, short- and long-term goal setting, and networking.
The program is available for teenagers aged 14 – 18 years old who have an interest in exploring health care-related careers.
The 2027 program application will be available on Monday, Feb. 1, 2027 and will remain open until 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 26, 2027.
Applicants may apply for one of three two-week sessions. Sessions run Monday – Friday, from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. Meal tickets will be provided for lunch between 12 – 1 p.m. each day.
Sessions available will include:
- Session 1: June 7 – 18, 2027
- Session 2: June 21 – July 2, 2027
- Session 3: July 12 – 23, 2027
Week One
Includes VolunTEEN program orientation, facilities tours, professional development training, guest speakers (representing a variety of career options and professional settings, CPR certification, simulation lab and more.
Week Two
Includes a combination of volunteering and shadowing experiences, in the Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital and the Sandra Eskenazi Outpatient Care Center, located at our downtown Indianapolis Campus.
The VolunTEEN Program application process will include successful completion of the online application, submission of a cover letter and resume and an unofficial junior high/high school transcript. Applicants moving to the second round will complete video interviewing using the HireVue online interviewing platform and will discuss their experiences related to health care career exploration, their career of interest, and how this program may help them learn more about the dynamic and evolving health care setting.
